Essential insights
- GnRH Agonist: Buserelin acts as an agonist at GnRH receptors in the pituitary gland. This stimulates the pituitary to release follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH).
- Stimulates reproductive hormone release: The increased release of FSH and LH from the pituitary gland promotes ovarian follicle development and ovulation in females, and stimulates testosterone production in males.
- Controlled breeding: By inducing a surge in LH and FSH, Buserelin is used to control and synchronize estrus cycles in females and to manage reproductive issues such as anestrus or cystic ovaries.
- Diagnostic use: It can also be used in diagnostic procedures to evaluate pituitary function and to assess reproductive health.
